Wedding Dresses That Didn't Make the Cut

Wedding Dresses That Didn't Make the Cut

Let me start out by saying I started this post on September 5th of last year. That was almost exactly 6 months out from Deion and I’s wedding date. As of today, April 4th, 2021, we’re just two days shy of being married for a month. For those who are wondering, the day was absolutely perfect and yes I am planning on doing an entirely separate post dedicated to sharing all the deets. I can’t tell you exactly when that’s going to happen, but what I do know is that I’ve literally had this post 90% complete for the last several months, so it is getting completed TODAY. So let’s get to it - WEDDING DRESSES THAT DIDN’T MAKE THE CUT.

David’s Bridal - Sunrise, FL

Not even trying to shade David’s Bridal, but just based on what my envisioned wedding gown looked like it wasn’t going to be found at David’s Bridal. However, I was freshly engaged and extremely eager to get my ass in somebody’s wedding dress so this was the soonest appointment I could get. The location that I visited had a great selection of dresses, the service was great, and they’re also very affordable. I hate that I didn’t keep note of the designers and the costs of the dresses, but in my defense I didn’t plan on buying any of them so I technically didn’t need that information.

This is the dress that confirmed that I definitely wanted mine to have sleeves. These obviously aren’t the right color for my complexion, but ones with a warmer tone that also have significantly more detail are exactly what I’m going for.

There truly wasn’t anything that I liked about this dress. I felt like I was going to prom, not getting married 🤦🏾‍♀️.

Yeah .. just no.

I didn’t hate this one, mostly just because it has the kind of train that I was looking for. Other than that, it was a little too basic for me.

I honestly just don’t think I’m a fan of strapless dresses. Plus, I hate the look of ruffled trains, so it was a no.

My face tells you everything you need to know about my thoughts on the dress.

Surprisingly, I thought this dress was really pretty. Not so much the top, but the bottom would have been great if this was the style of dress that I actually wanted.

No.

I liked this one. It’s the style that I wanted and has the long train that I was looking for, it just wasn’t THE dress.

Same deal with this dress. The style is good, the train is great, but it’s not what I’m looking for. I’m also not a fan of the color of either of them.

I saw this dress on Pinterest and I was intrigued. So I found the name of it and realized there was a bridal shop that carried it that wasn’t too far from where I was living at the time. I knew it wasn’t going to be my dress, but I still wanted to try it on for shits and giggles … so here we are.

Hate. The illusion neckline wasn’t doing it for me, and plus it wasn’t flattering on any part of my body. This was one that the stylist picked out, by the way.

The one memorable thing about this dress is how freaking heavy it was. You may not think all of that beading would hold any weight … but it absolutely did. If I was the bride that wanted a separate dress for the reception, this probably would have been the style that I would go for. Minus the style of sleeves and the illusion neckline, of course.

Literally hideous. Not to mention I look like a busted can of biscuits from the back.

I can honestly say that this is the only dress other than the one that I bought that I actually loved. The drama, the detail … it’s doing everything for me! It also has a detachable train which I thought was pretty amazing. The only thing that killed me was the illusion neckline. I do not like the way it looks on me at all.

So that concludes my wedding dress hunt! I tried on a decent amount of dresses, but I want to say it took less than two months for me to find the one. As I said before, I have a post coming up where I’m literally going to be talking about every last detail of our wedding day. I’ve posted some photos on my instagram (@fashionablydg), so definitely check them out if you’re just dying to see how fine my hubby and I were. Otherwise, stay tuneddddddd.

Also, I’m curious to know, which did y’all think was the most hideous? Any that you actually liked? Let me know!

Fashionably Yours,

Mrs. Looper

Last thing - I’m in the process of getting my last name changed. Officially going to be Mrs. LOOPER. I didn’t plan to change my blog name, but I’ll probably be signing off as DL from now on 😊.
