Three Simple (& Non-Cliché ) Valentine’s Day Looks When Your Plans Don’t Include a Fancy Dinner
Honestly … Valentine’s Day isn’t that big of a deal. Christmas, anniversaries, and birthdays are a lot more meaningful in my opinion. With that being said, I’m still most definitely celebrating Valentine’s Day, but if you don’t have a significant other then I’m here to tell you it is not the end of the world. Sometimes your girls make the best dates; sip some wine while getting dolled up and enjoy your friends’ company at a nice dinner. Or even better, stay in and have a wine night so that everyone can get drunk without worrying about getting home safely. The older I get, the more often I lean toward the latter to be honest; literally some of the best nights I’ve ever had included going over to a friend’s house in a t-shirt and sweats with a bottle of Chardonnay in my bag.
Anyway.
My whole point is that Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be all frilly and lacy with all the different shades of pink and red. It doesn’t have to be a fancy dinner with your significant other, either. We’re literally going bar hopping and keeping it super casual. So I decided to put together a few simple looks that would fit the less formal outing. All three looks are centered around a pair of cheap leather pants that I got from Shein ($12) and include pieces that you most likely already have in your wardrobe. If you’re one of those people that still aren’t sure about what you’re wearing tonight, this quick outfit guide may just save your life.
The Leather Pants + Turtleneck + Trench Coat Combo
I did something I’ve never done when putting this look together. I put a waist belt over a trench coat. I stared at myself in the mirror for a while before deciding to stick with it, but it was something about the shape and the cinching that the coat had the I was really feeling. In all honestly, I was feeling it all. I specifically bought these sneakers because of the vision I had for this look; the style and the colors were exactly what I was looking for. Not to mention, I’d been wanting some non-athletic fashion sneakers so it just made sense to get them.
Everyone should own a black turtleneck, sneakers, and a black hat. If you don’t I’m definitely judging. In the case that you don’t have a trench coat, a duster cardigan would suffice and you’d still have yourself a look!
The Leather Pants + Denim + Flat Mules Combo
I honestly love this look. I actually wore it a few weekends ago when Deion and I went to this wine festival downtown. I got tons of compliments on the vintage denim jacket alone, and it makes total sense considering it makes the look. I wish I could say any denim jacket would give an oversized sweater, leather pants, and mules the same uplift that mine did, but I’d be lying. Of course if you just want a casual cute look for tonight then you can for sure make something shake with whatever jacket you have. More is more, ladies, so if you end up feeling a little underdressed, accessorize more. Add a hat, throw on some arm candy, a nice pair of statement earrings, or swap out the mules for a pair of booties. We can be casual but we will NEVER be basic.
The Leather Pants + Fur Coat + Heeled Mules Combo
You guys know me … I had to give you at least one option with heels. Not stilettos, not over the knee boots, but a chunky heeled mule. The chunky heel paired with a simple graphic tee keep the look casual while the fur coat gives you that little splash of dressy. Not Ruth’s Chris dressy, though. It’s definitely dinner appropriate, but for a place on the more inexpensive side. Not necessarily Olive Garden, but something on that same level if you get what I’m saying. If you’re the type to wear heels to a bar then this would be a great look for that as well.

Even if you don’t have plans this evening, these looks would be great for several other occasions! So keep them in mind the next time you need a casual-cute look for the day or night.
You guys be safe tonight, have a great Valentines’s day, and don’t get pregnant (or unless you’re actually trying to).
