How to Transform Your Lounge Clothes Into the Ultimate "Quarantined Baddie" Look

How to Transform Your Lounge Clothes Into the Ultimate "Quarantined Baddie" Look

I just know y’all aren’t getting dressed up to be in the house all day. If you are, huge props to you because my rotation of looks the past couple of weeks consists of a robe, a leopard print onesie, sherpa pants and a sweatshirt, and occasional workout attire. To be completely honest, my go to look hasn’t been either of these because I like being my most free self while in the comfort of my home. If you know, you know … and if you don’t then I’m not going to be the one to tell you. How you choose to live behind closed doors is truly none of my business, so you just keep on keeping on. My question for you, though, is if you’ve gotten tired of this extreme (and clearly never-ending) comfortability? Do you miss the feeling of getting dressed for work in the morning and having a set plan for what you would like to get done that day? Miss having meetings? Wearing a name badge? Wearing jeans …

Oh, I lost you with that last one? I honestly lost myself too, so don’t feel bad. I’ll go a whole year without wearing jeans and not think twice about it. I think that’s why I developed such a love for business casual attire because my clothes always fit comfortably. My shoes, on the other hand, are another story. I have a few pairs that absolutely kill my feet, yet I refuse to give them up. Is it insane for me to say I’m missing the burn on my pinky toe from wearing a pair of pointed toe mules for 8 hours straight?

It is. I know. I’m just dedicated to the snazzy work-fit lifestyle. I’ve gone from hopping out the bed and turning my swag on five days a week to having zero obligation to look like a decent human being. I’m literally bummed out. So, I powered up my creative juices and decided to do a 2-in-1 look that could easily transition from being casual day wear to a sexy night look. Since we’re at that point in the year where it could be sweatshirt weather today and sundress weather tomorrow, I figured I would style one of my favorite wear-around-the-house sweatshirts. Considering there’s no where to go at this point in time, keep these quick styling tips in mind when it’s a nice 60 degrees outside and you want to stay cozied up while on the go.

Outfit Deets

I’m a huge fan of making something out of nothing when putting together looks. While this sweatshirt isn’t your average stained sweatshirt from college, it’s still a sweatshirt, so I take that as it’s primary function being to chill in. On the other hand, I did pay $30 for it, so it’s only right that I shake it up a little bit.

Wait … Daysia paid $30 for a sweatshirt?! The girl that makes a new Shoe Dazzle account for every pair of shoes that she buys to get the new VIP member discount? Yes, you read that right. But let me explain. So first off, my trainer has a dope ass clothing line. Conscious Apparel by Moye. The quality is great, the products fit well, and the message behind label actually means something. Not to mention, it’s a small, black-owned business, so need I say any more? He has a variety of products to choose from, but what really had me sold on this sweatshirt was the color. I don’t know why, but I instantly saw myself pairing leopard print pants with it (H&M, $8). Despite the hint of red and green in the design, I had that strong feeling that I get when I just KNOW that I did the damn thing. It’s kind of funny because I was feeling that confident about this look before I even committed to buying the sweatshirt. My vision is honestly what sealed the deal.

So we have the base of our look now - a sweatshirt and a pair of printed pants. Items you probably already own, right? From this point, how we decide to accessorize will either elevate or depreciate what we already have. I highly doubt anyone would ever go for the latter, but it happens. We’ve all seen it. The most obvious mistake will be in the footwear. Being the shoe addict that I am, I always pay attention to shoes, so when styling I’m putting that extra effort into making sure I have the perfect shoe. I will go as far as buying a brand new pair if it’s what I feel an outfit needs; that’s how these sneakers came about. The basic variation of this look is super casual, so in this case it’s not that I necessarily felt that it was the missing piece, I was just feeling a pair of sneakers that would add a nice contrast against the leopard print, which I didn’t have. What I liked about these is that they have a subtle platform on them, giving me an extra two inches in height. Plus, I know I’ll get some good wear out of them, so that’ll push me to create more sneaker looks.

The dressier variation of this look is something you could easily transition into when someone hits you with last minute plans and expects you to be ready in 5 minutes. It’s literally nothing to change your shoes and throw on a jacket - whether it be leather or denim. For me, my heels (ShoeDazzle, $10) are what made me decide on leather. I’d seriously advise everyone to allow their heel of choice to be the deciding factor as well. I can’t tell you what kind of heel you should always wear with a denim jacket, or any kind of jacket for that matter. There isn’t a book of fashion rules out there telling you all of the do’s and don’ts of putting an outfit together. Fashion wouldn’t be what it is if it was that technical. What I can say is, you should always think about how you want to perceive yourself once you’re done getting dressed. Leather is undoubtedly sexy. I feel the same way about pointed toe heels as well. Sexy is how I wanted to perceive myself. Not saying you can’t be sexy in denim, because you absolutely can - it’s going to give you a more “street” kind of edge that just has to be styled with whatever perception you want of yourself in mind.

To complete these looks, I wore a pair of large, gold hoops from JCPenney and my gold initial necklace that Deion got me for Christmas. I’ve been blogging long enough for y’all to know I’ve always been a gold kind of woman, but if you’re the complete opposite and you’re thinking of doing one of these variations with the same color palette, gold accessories are the way to go. Mustard yellow and shades of brown love gold.

I don’t know if there is an elephant in the room, but just because of the possibility I’m going to address it anyway. I am indeed outside during a pandemic, which is okay. There’s an empty building with a huge parking lot right down the street from my apartment, so I figured I’d use that to my advantage. What isn’t okay, though, is throwing these quarantine parties with 40+ people like this virus won’t take you out. We can joke about it on social media all day long, but this shit is serious, y’all. If you don’t have to be around other people, then don’t. That’s as simple as it gets. That’s my little rant to conclude this post, y’all stay safe!
