7 Days of Valentine's Day Looks: Day 2

Day 2. Welcome back, y’all!

What makes me the most excited about this look is how I had to make a last minute change to save it, and I just wonder, why it wasn’t a part of my original plan to begin with. Being as interested in fashion that I am, it’s not super often that I envision a look that ends up being a bust, but it does happen. Doesn’t mean I don’t know how to put a bomb ass outfit together, it’s just a part of the process that we all know and love called trial and error.

Not everyone has the patience for it when it comes to their wardrobe, but I do, and actually enjoy it, which is why I chose to be a Stylist.

We’ll chat about that soon ☺️

Picture this look without the blazer and red shorts.

That’s what I thought this was going to be. When I received the red shorts in the mail, I didn’t even have to try them on with this NastyGal blouse to see it wasn’t going to work. Returned them immediately. It wasn’t that I thought the red would be too much, at least at the time. It was more so about them not being the right shade of red. But as I’m typing this, I’m realizing that maybe subconsciously I was thinking the red would be too much, which is why these black leather shorts popped in my head. They’re from Amazon, and I did do a post on them about a month ago, so if you’re thinking they look familiar you’re not wrong.

I’ll drop the link again for you guys if you’re interested in buying them, but keep in mind that I am an Amazon Associate, so I do earn commission on qualifying purchases that are made through the paid link above.

Name another pair of shoes that would go as perfectly with this blouse as these heels from EGO. We’ll be waiting all day because I don’t think they exist. For whatever reason, I tend to forget I even have them, but once I decided this was the top that I was styling, they’re all I could think about. The pink is nearly the perfect shade to match to this thrifted blazer that I bought last month, so once I realized that, the blazer became a vital part of the equation.

Similarly to day 1’s look, I accessorized with gold jewelry from Target, and chose to wear my red Michael Kors shoulder bag.

The weather in South Carolina doesn’t match the season most of the time, so whether I’d be able to wear this look outside before Spring is honestly questionable. It would have to be at least 67 degrees and sunny for me to wear shorts and open toed heels, but everyone is different, and of course potentially living in a different climate. Regardless of where you are, this is the kind of look that can be worn for a museum date, a night in the city, or a rooftop dinner or brunch. I’d even go as far as saying this could be an unconventional wedding guest look, provided it wasn’t a formal dress code.

As I always say, take the idea and add your own spin to it, or get as close to identical as you want if you’re loving this look.

I’m here to inspire.

Fashionably Yours,

DL
